All this thinking is making me a little nuts. I feel a little better after talking with my thesis advisor about this big dilemma in the argument that I couldn't seem to solve. He suggested that I recognize that and lay out the different perspectives that could be taken on that bigger question, that I can't answer in this thesis. Hopefully, it will come through effectively.
Being in Javanese Gamelan has afforded me some space to consider thinking in a new way, instead of always based on a "capitalist drive" kind of American mindset. I love working hard, but I also like other things. So, I am sharing this video. It is contemporary gamelan, but still has the same sorts of sounds as traditional Javanese music.
